Early Iris

The irises I received from my friends at Meadowlark Gardens so many year ago are blooming again. A word to the wise: If you'd like to be remembered fondly for years and years, give someone a plant that lasts.

Trees are good. But I prefer bulbs — irises and (of course) daffodils. Plant them in the ground and forget about them. No fuss, no muss, they bloom year after year without any care beyond weeding the flower beds.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this.  I searched through all my iris pictures prior to posting this.  I couldn't help but notice that every picture was from April.  And the older the picture, the later the date. In other words, the old ones are from late April.  The newer ones from early April. This one, obviously, is from late March. Farmers and gardeners know that Global Warming is real.  They may not be convinced as to why — but they know it's happening.
