Mayapple Blooming

It was blowing rain on Monte Sano so into the archives I go.  It's not very far back.  As a matter of fact, the Mayapples are still blooming — if you know where to look.  (Pssst:  On the Cold Springs Trail where it parallels the Bankhead Trail between the 1/4 and 1/2 mile markers.  Don't tell anybody.)  You have to look hard though.  The bloom is actually under the "umbrella" of leaves. I'm guessing it's not hidden from the bees like it is from the humans.

In Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, Alabama.
