Way for a Flower
I plunged down the Sinks Trail yesterday for a shot at the bluebells. I thought it might frost and kill them this morning. But I took the Mountain Mist Trail to where the trails meet to cut out the steepest parts of the Sinks Trail. It's a long way for a flower but it's the only way to see them — either up and down on the switchbacks of The Sinks or the long way on the Mountain Mist Trail.
Every year at this time, in a small little micro-climate, about an acre (or less) of these flowers bloom in the depression know as The Sinks — a depression worn in the limestone by centuries of water. It's quite stunning in that subtle way of nature. I walked a hour through the brown and grey of a winter forest and suddenly, there are all these green plants with all these beautiful blooms.
I want bore you with all the photo challenges. At least not today.
