Take Time to Look It Up
So there I am, reading through the New York Times about a case on bump stocks.
"“During the Trump administration, the bump stock ban cropped up as a
rather glaring example of unlawful administrative power,” Philip
Hamburger, a founder of the New Civil Liberties Alliance, said in an
email. “This rule turned half a million people into felons overnight.
That’s not a power that the Constitution gives to administrative
agencies — so it deserved a lawsuit.”"
Check out the picture too. My prejudice got the best of me. Don't let it get the best of you.
From Wikipedia:
"New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit civil rights group founded in 2017 by Philip Hamburger. The group describes itself as nonpartisan with the mission of protecting "constitutional freedoms from violations by the Administrative State". According to the Charles Koch Foundation, the group "works to protect due process, free speech, and the right to privacy from threats on another front: administrative action".[1] The organization was founded with seed money from the Charles Koch Foundation, which continues to support it."
Like I told you last week,
"When you're reading an article online and the reporter just casually mentions Dr. Noname and the Somethingorother Institute, STOP. Go look up Dr. Noname. Look up the Somethingorother Institute."
When you do take the time, you'll realize just how much money the Koch Brothers & Company spend on influencing your opinion and obstructing your government. And they've been doing it as long as I've been writing this blog.
