Crystal and Candles

When I first saw that Flickr Friday's theme was #Crystal I got excited.  I knew I had this beautiful crystal decanter from back when I was impressed with expensive trinkets and envisioned it in one of my usual sunrise shots with the Sun right behind the ball stopper and light pouring through it with rainbows and unicorns streaking everywhere….

There was only one problem.  I haven't seen the Sun rise this whole week.  It's been cloudy and foggy every morning.  So I came up with Plan B.  I actually had a string of fairy lights I was going to use but I had a box full of tin-can luminaries (I made for another project) still in the truck and decided to use them.  Candles sound a lot better than fairy lights, right?

I had planned to use the stone wall at the overlook as the background — just for the contrast of crystal and stone — but I decided to go with the back of this cut-stone monument.  Anyway, not too bad for Plan B.
