Pike County Forecast -- May 17, 2020

And a good Sunday morning to you all.  It's a pleasant 62ºF out at the Farm with the relative humidity at 92% and the wind out of the Southeast at less than 5 mph. I'm afraid the forecast is a little more complicated today.

_________

Today -- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight -- A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3am, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
_________

The forecast discussion is full of some serious weather gobbledegook but the gist of it is that we're going to have a series of thunderstorm-generating systems go through.  None of them are expected to be severe unless the Sun gets to shine through and heat things up.  So, starting late this afternoon, the more sunshine you see, the worse the thunderstorms will be.  If you see sunshine tonight -- run for the hills.

There's nothing close on the radar and ATL is reporting 25,000 Scattered.  And that brings us to our old friend the surface map.

You can see the big low off the coast (Arthur) and the big one out in Arkansas, while the rain approaches Georgia at 18Z (-5 =1300 hours =) 1 o'clock in the afternoon.  Yep, that puts it here around 3 PM.  You have plenty of day to enjoy before that gets here.  Off you go.
