The Flick -- A term used by air traffic controllers to describe a mental model representing the current and future positions of air traffic in a section of airspace. Controllers visualize the paths of multiple aircraft in terms of position, altitude, trajectory and speed. Controllers also refer to this as "having the picture." But the picture moves -- like a movie -- hence the term “the flick.”

‘Round the Bend
Don’t ask me how I find these things. I just do. I’m like Charles Kuralt, I’ve always got to see what’s just around the bend.
First, for my Australian controller friends, here’s a map of Australian Controlled Airspace and Radar Coverage -- 1967.
And for my friends at Atlanta Center who thought working a radar scope holding an umbrella was a novel experience...
”On one occasion staff wrote to Head Office complaining of having to stand ankle-deep in water due to the rain leaking in. The response was to offer a supply of waterproof coats and gumboots! “
Be sure to check out the “advanced automation” in the picture.
