Pike County Forecast -- Wednesday, April 8, 2020

It's 60ºF out at the Farm with the relative humidity at 99.9%.  The wind is from the West at around 5 mph.  Hampton is showing visibility at 7 miles.

The forecast for...

Wednesday
A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

The forecast discussion is full of the uncertainty that is weather forecasting. This gist of it is, there's a chance (actually two chances)  of thunderstorms this afternoon. And tonight.  The first is just your garden variety thunderstorms in Georgia.  Nothing to take lightly...it's just what happens in Georgia.  The second chance is a cold front, coming through tonight.

The radar doesn't show you anything (except that West Virginia is taking a beating this morning) so it's to the surface map we go.

The sharp-eyed folks will note the time of that screen shot is 0600Z (GMT) for Thursday.  So, that's what...1AM for us? So the blue line with triangles (that's the cold front) won't get to us until the wee hours of the morning.  A tornado when everybody is asleep is what gives weather forecasters agita.  Check with your local weatherman before you go to bed tonight.
