Pike County Forecast -- February 28, 2020

Somebody left the window open...

It's a little colder than I was expecting this morning -- 28ºF -- and the  forecast is a lot trickier than I expected too.

First off, if you live in the mountains, congratulations.  It's warmer in Blue Ridge than it is in Hampton. And it's probably snowing up on the mountain.  See that real pale blue over the mountains of North, Georgia?

And it might snow again this evening up there.  The odd thing is, if you watch the satellite loop, all the clouds dissipate once they reach Atlanta (or I-85).  So it's cloudy north of Atlanta and (as far as I can tell) clear to the South. As I've told y'all before, except at the biggest airports, the NWS/FAA no longer measure clouds above 12,000 ft.  ATL is currently 8,000 overcast.

So here's the forecast. A colder than expected start.  Mostly sunny over South Metro with a high of 53ºF.  But the wind spoils it again.  Although it is currently calm, it's expected to kick up this morning -- 10-15 mph with gusts to 25. If you click on the forecast link, you won't see a mention of rain (south of Atlanta).  But my phone ap says there is a 50% chance of rain between 3 and 5 PM local.

As the weatherman says in his forecast discussion, Confidence is low.
