Pike County Forecast -- Feb. 29, 2020

A nice (chilly) day in store for this abnormal date.

It's nice and chilly down at The Farm this morning; 36ºF, 70% on the relative humidity and the wind is out of the West at 5 mph. The folks at the big airport are calling the skies clear.  So much for the sunrise. Maybe some clouds will show up later. Let's see.

The forecast: Sunny with a high of 55ºF.  Northwest wind, 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.  (Ouch.) Oh well, no hope there.  Not much of a day for canoeing either.  But let's look at the forecast discussion shall we?

"Continue to see brief periods of light snow move across the mountains. Difficult to ascertain observations there during theovernight hours but certainly looks to be less than advisory criteria at this point. Activity further south across the eastern metro may not even be touching the ground given high based cigs that continue across the area."

You can't have snow without clouds. Right?  And "high based cigs (ceilings)" are made of clouds right?  So maybe there's hope of a decent sunrise picture this morning. The satellite loops says there is hope. I hope that sunrise brings hope to your day too.
