Rain at Sunset
I had a wild sunset, last night, at Blevins Gap Nature Preserve. There was the slightest gap on the horizon and the Sun just barely peeked through. But it was enough. Despite a passing rain shower, the sky stayed lit for about an hour after sunset. (Yes, I have more. Many, many more.)
I'd be remiss if I didn't take the chance to mention the need for a Photography Park here. This was prime rainbow weather. But if you turn around and face the other way from the Sun (which is where rainbows are found) you're looking at a major road and a hill. It's the same problem I have at my normal sunrise spot — Monte Sano State Park. It's a decent view of the sunrise, but then, when the Sun is up and you have all this glorious light to play with, you turn around and there's a parking lot, a bunch of signs and a forest.
While I am grateful for both spaces, neither meets the needs of photographers.
