Grandmother's Hourglass
The #FlickrFriday theme this week is #LongTimeAgo. As many of you know, I've done a series on "Time" (using an hourglass) so this one was easy to decide on. But my wife wasn't letting me take this hourglass up on the mountain for a dozen sunrises — until I got it right. It belonged to her grandmother. It really is from a long time ago. But that left me with the problem of lighting it.
Believe it or not, that's my "office" table, my globe, my curtain and a candle we dug out of the draw. An antique lamp is in line with the candle on the left so that reflection matches the candle. It wasn't enough so I turned on the ceiling fan light overhead and hung a white, dress shirt on the hub to act as a diffuser (for all those peeping at the reflection to see). That's it. If I keep this up I might have to buy a studio light of some kind.
