One-Handed Drivers
I swear I could shoot nothing but the pickup men at a rodeo and wind up with a bunch of great pictures. I think what they do — all night — is as skillful as anything else going on in the arena. I mean, you try unbuckling a strap with one hand, at a gallop, while steering your horse into another horse.
If you ever go to a rodeo, don't fall asleep after the timed event is over. Watch these guys work. It's impressive. There's no money in it, so you don't see anybody photographing it. But I don't shoot for money. I shoot for fun. And this is as fun to shoot as the rest of the rodeo.
