Class is In Session

Sorry folks.  I keep falling behind.  Who knew retirement could be so busy?

Anyway, a guy held a photography class on the mountain at sunrise last weekend.  It provided me a chance to make a picture (and some points) about a Photography Park.

If the State (County and City) promoted it, the overlook could look like this almost every morning. The surrounding population is large enough to support it.  If the powers-that-be would help out the commercial photographers (power, permits, etc.) it would be a whole new revenue stream for the park.  Maybe then they would have enough money to keep the trees cut back from blocking the view.  (That's a hint y'all.)

But the first requirement is to be open.  Sunrise is currently at 6:43AM.  The park doesn't open until 6AM.  In the summer, sunrise can be as early as 5:32AM.  Forget the sunrise, you've lost half of the "golden hour" before the gate even opens.

There are dozens of things all park managers could do to make their parks more photogenic (for everybody) and more photo-friendly for photographers. All they have to do is ask.  (I work for free.)

Class is in session at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
