The Light Returns to Bankhead

The Bankhead Trail used to be part of the Bankhead Parkway that took you to Monte Sano State Park.  In other words, it's the old (paved) road into the park.  For whatever reason, they cut a new entrance road to the park and the old road turned into a paved walking trail.  In the winter, it's a good place to walk because it keeps folks off the muddy trails.  The downside is, it is on the north side of the mountain.  So in winter, it stays in the shade.

It's a sure sign that winter is ending when the light returns to the Bankhead Trail.
