Descent Into Darkness -- Day Two

I've got that feeling again. The one I had in the grocery store one morning before COVID really hit America. China was covering up everything but news was leaking out. Then it started creeping around the world and Italy was hit hard. COVID was in America but I lived in the country -- in rural Georgia. But I kept up with the world. And it was as plain as day that it was coming. As a matter of fact, I think Albany, GA was already getting hammered.
So there I was in the grocery store, stocking up. I wasn't trying to buy every roll of toilet paper they had -- I was just buying my normal stuff but I was stocking up. On everything. And the store was empty. I mean, we only had a week or two before it got to us -- a month at best -- and nobody was in there with me stocking up. "Don't people know what is coming?" They did not.
They don't now. Trump has won the Presidency. The Senate is controlled by the Republicans -- hardly one of which has had the courage to stand up to Trump. The Supreme Court gave him immunity for "official acts" -- and no one knows what that means. Not even the Supreme Court. It looks like Republicans might win control of the House.
People ask me, "Can Trump really do that?" "That" might as well be fill-in-the-blank. I already have a stock answer (on Day Two): "Who is going to stop him?".
The Senate? No. The Supreme Court? No. Not unless they've raised an army. The House? No. And speaking of an army...that's the $64,000 question. (Pssst. If you didn't think about Tommy Tuberville preventing Joe Biden from filling senior officer positions in this light you might want to give it another think.) If you think Senator Tuberville is that smart -- he's not. That's the reason he can be manipulated -- by others that are.
I'm seeing Republican cheerleaders suddenly waking up to the stock market being at an all-time high. Big duh. It's hit an all-time high every other week since May -- when it first went above 40,000.
I got news for folks, the old guy Democrats kicked to the curb has had
this under control for a long time. But these folks don't read the New
York Times. And they don't read Forbes either.
"Surprise: Wage growth has actually outpaced the crushing inflation over the past 2.5 years. ‘The economy appears to be doing better than a lot of people might realize’ "
(Yes. Always check the date. That was written December 12, 2023.)
I'm guessing these folks don't read at all.
But
thank God the Democrats weren't stupid enough to run a senile, old man
to be President. The Republicans would have had a field day with that
one.
