The Old and The Old

I was going to entitle it "The New and The Old" but the wall is made out of the same rock as the mountain.  Most of the buildings at Monte Sano State Park were built by the Civilian Conservation Corp during the Roosevelt (FDR) Administration.  God forbid we ever have another Great Depression, but  if we do, I hope this is one of the first ideas they use to mitigate it.

Building with stone is really expensive but, conversely, it sure does last.  How many buildings, walls, bathrooms being built today will still be in use 100 years from now?  But enough of the history.

The retaining wall of the overlook at Monte Sano State Park glows in the sunrise with Logan Point in the background in Huntsville, Alabama.
