Moss on Limestone

Again, I don't know what "normal" is around here but it looks like it's been a good year for moss.  The last time I saw moss this thick I was in Scotland.  I'm assuming the rock is limestone.  (It's been a while since college geology.)  The next county over is Limestone County.  There are at least two springs I know of on Monte Sano Mountain.  I makes me wonder if somebody couldn't make some fine whiskey in this area.
