Wait! I Can Explain

First, you have to notice the black calf.  Right in front of the horse. See the orange around its tail?  That's the "ribbon" and this is a picture of the ribbon-roping event. The person on horse ropes the calf, runs down the rope and holds the calf while the second person (the one on foot) grabs the "ribbon" and runs it back to the judge.  The fastest time wins. 

Seeing as the calf probably outweighs both of the contestants put together (it's a junior high school event) it can get interesting.  From the Georgia High School Rodeo Association event in Madison, Georgia
