High-Key Goat Roper

Middle-of-the-day light meant I had to expose for the shadows and hope for the best as a goat roper warms her horse up before her run at the Georgia High School Rodeo Association event in Madison, Georgia.  Fortunately, all the sunshine bouncing off the bleachers, her light-colored horse plus the diffuse shade of her straw hat made it all work.

Good light really is where you find it.  I'd love nothing better to shoot in the "golden hour" after sunrise and before sunset but rodeo folks have different ideas. So I wander around, do the best I can with what I've got and look for something that works.  The instant feedback of a review screen — for me — has been as big a revolution in photography as anything digital has done.
