Yes You Will

I decided to get around to visiting Bethel Springs today.  It's part of the Land Trust of North Alabama and it's actually further out from Huntsville on my side of town.  I decided to take the tougher trail up and take the other side of the loop back down on the return trip.  I could tell from the topo maps the trail to the left — the Mill Trail -- went straight up.

I soon found myself wishing I was 15 again.  Or even 30 — instead of over twice that.  Supposedly, it's only a half-mile trail (they lie) but I bet it took a half dozen breaks.  I told myself I'd never do this again. There's nothing on the trail to make it worth it.

But then you get there and you realize -- yes — yes you will come here again. You can't believe this much water comes out of the ground this close to the summit — much less that it goes underground again at the base of the falls.  It's an extraordinary place. And it all won't fit into one picture.  You can see the tree on the right.  If you step back to get it all in the frame, you can't see it for the trees.  You could spend days trying to get all the different angles.
