Tourist Shot -- Monte Sano State Park

The sky was overcast and I was bored so I made a shot for tourists.  This is the old entrance to Monte Sano State Park.  The old road is just out of the frame to the right and is now the Bankhead "Trail".  The new entrance is straight ahead — all the way on the other side of the park.   The overlook is off to the left of the first sign, out of the frame.

The cabin with the light on is the Civilian Conservation Corp museum.  If you don't know about the CCC, you should take the time to read about them.  FDR put thousands of young men to work (3 million over the life of the program) building Public Works projects.  We are all still enjoying the fruits of their labor nearly a century later at State and Federal parks all over America.
