Pike County Forecast -- Tuesday, March 23, 2020
Straight away in the forecast discussion: "A challenging forecast with a myriad of hazard concerns starting with dense fog." Then the discussion descends into a bunch of weather jargon. Helicity? There's a first time for everything. But that's the reason you read me -- so you don't have to read that, right?
Okay then. It's 61º in Hampton and the visibility is 1/4 of a mile. It's foggy. (The Farm doesn't measure visibility, remember?) The wind is calm. The high will be 75º. The wind will switch around to the Southwest this afternoon. It will be cloudy all day with a 40% chance of showers/thunderstorms.
Now, for the "challenging" stuff.
I hope the red splotch got your attention. First, the weatherman did NOT put a warning about tornadoes in the forecast. But, as always, they are looking for the conditions that cause them. They are looking harder today. That was the bit about helicity. As you can see, the red splotch barely touches Georgia. But that's the forecast at 18Z, which is 2 PM to you. It's what it's going to do after that that concerns the weatherman.
You want to check the weather again around noon to see if there are any new "challenges".
