No Clouds This Morning

I'm always tickled when people show up at 2-minutes-to-sunrise at the overlook.  They think it's so pretty.  The attraction of seeing the disc of the Sun break the horizon is undeniable. But I arrive an hour before sunrise for a reason.  I don't care about seeing the Sun.  I care about the color in the sky.  This is about 40 minutes before sunrise.

30 seconds is the longest exposure my camera does without some technical gyrations.  So that's what I use 99.9% of the time when it's "dark".  But it's the darkness that make the colors seem so intense.   By the way, there were no clouds this morning. This picture is from September 20th.

That's Maysville, Alabama below the hills.  From the overlook at Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, Alabama.
