Hell to Pay

It was 80ºF (21ºC) at the summit of Monte Sano at 5AM this morning.  The average low for this area in July is 70ºF.  The record for the highest daily low is 81ºF on September 11, 1921.

If you'll spend more than 5 minutes reading about Global Warming, you'll read that it's the lows that matter the most.  The highs get the attention — they're the ones that can kill you in a hurry after all.  But it's the lows that will kill off civilization.  Especially the all-important one — the difference between 32ºF and 33ºF.  The difference between ice and water.

There will be hell to pay for our carelessness.  Our ignorance.  Our willful blindness.

An angry, red Sun rises through the haze at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
