Gully Washer

Once again, Monte Sano is a limestone mountain. There are a couple of bogs on the top but virtually all the water runs off the rest of the mountain in a hurry.  Even Cold Spring — which feeds this creek — dries up to little more than a trickle. But when it rains hard?  It gives a whole new meaning to "gully washer".  All the detritus of winter gets washed into the valleys.  The creek beds return to solid slabs of limestone.
