Hi Mom

It was a beautiful sunrise on Monte Sano this morning.  You just never know.  I never expect one in the summer.  But I always hope.

It occurred to me my love of sunrises — and mountains — comes from my mother.  After my Dad passed, I used to take her for a ride every year, through the North Georgia mountains, to see the Fall leaves. She'd gasp with joy at a view of the mountains, or a particularly nice group of trees. She also gave us a love for music.  And then it occurred to me, she gave me everything.  How to walk, talk, live, love, everything.  It's pretty late in life to have that thought but I can be really slow at times.

She passed away last night.  Peacefully.  I will miss her.
