An Interest in You

A friend let me know I was falling down on my job.  I haven't posted a lot lately.  I've been busy.  Yes, I'm retired.  No, I'm not supposed to be busy.  This quote from Pericles seems appropriate.

"Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you. " ― Pericles

It's not a great fit — but it will do.  I've been interested in "politics" since I retired from the Federal Government.  Actually, I hate politics.  But I care, very much, about public policy.  And public policy doesn't get implement without politics.  It's just a fact.

And the fact that matters to me at the moment is this: Making sure democracy survives in the United States of America takes precedent over everything else in my life right now except God and family.  I try really hard to keep politics off Flickr. Simply as an explanation, politics has found me.

I've never seen this phenomenon from the overlook before.  At least not this pronounced.  It was about 10-15 minutes after sunrise, when the Sun found its way through the cloud deck, lighting up just the valley, while leaving the far mountains (and the one I was on) in the shade.  It was a beautiful sight.
