Keep My Eye
I decided to pull out the big lens for this morning's sunrise. I could tell from the lack of clouds nothing would happen on a big-sky scale. So you work with what you got. I always find it odd that the edges of the Sun get ragged from atmospherics in the winter. But they do.
The flock of birds is just a bonus. I don't actually keep my eye at the viewfinder and stare at the Sun with a 500mm lens. So I shoot a lot of pictures and stare at the review screen to see if I'm getting what I want.
The Sun rises over the North Alabama mountains, as seen from Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
