Good Bye Bob
My friend Bob passed away a few years ago. He was a great guy. He could call you an idiot and make you smile about it. Back when I used to write a lot on my blog, he was always the first to read it and he'd write me, pointing out whatever errors I made so I could get them corrected before the rest of the world saw them.
I believe he coined the term "heckle chess". He was a fellow air traffic controller and lots of us used to play chess while we were on break. It wasn't stressful enough — playing in a rush while you were on break — so folks would look over your shoulder and say things like, "I don't believe I would have done that!".
Anyway, it's rumored he once said, "Just how many pictures of a &$%#^ lake can you look at?"
So, when I needed a way to identify my cameras when I got my third one, I decided to name them and change the image file ID to fit the name. Some of you may have noticed the file numbers. I post them with every picture. I named the camera I use for scenics (mostly at the lake) "Bob". I'm sure he would have approved.
Well, "Bob" died today. It's an old Nikon D7000 so I won't bother fixing it. It was a great camera. I took lots of my favorite pictures with it. I'll miss it. Not nearly as much as I miss my friend.
