Pike County Forecast -- Feb. 21, 2020

A cloudy and cold start.  There’s the slimmest chance you might see a snowflake.

It’s 36ºF and it’s only going to 46º so the “cold” part (I always imagine my buddy Chuck snickering at the “cold” part) isn’t going away.  It’s windy too. We had a gust of 11 mph just a minute or two ago -- out of the cold north.  At some point, the skies will start clearing.  My phone ap says 3 PM.  The weatherman says “mid-morning”.  It depends on how far North of Pike County you are.

It’s a double-edged sword: The clouds are a blanket for the Earth.  As soon as they’re gone we start cooling off.  But it will be good to see the Sun and feels it’s warmth.  When it’s gone, we’ll start dropping down to 27ºF tonight.

Special note if you’re headed for the mountains. The weatherman says to watch for black ice on the roads. You now how it is.  Get up on a high road, come around a curve into the shade and there it is.  Been there, done that. Scary.
