The Emptiness of It

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw this picture.  The colors are exquisite.  And I love the emptiness of it.  How can something be so beautiful but leave you wanting?  How can beauty be so disturbing?

I knew as soon as I saw it I wanted to entitle it "The Void".  But alas, man has marred it.  You don't have to look for it.  Just leave it having enjoyed it — without looking for the flaw.  But that is the curse of photographers — always looking for any  flaw in their work.  Most think retouching will scratch that itch.  But it never heals.  It just feels good for a second while the reality remains.

Dawn glows over Lake Huron from St. Ignace, Michigan.
