The Flick -- A term used by air traffic controllers to describe a mental model representing the current and future positions of air traffic in a section of airspace. Controllers visualize the paths of multiple aircraft in terms of position, altitude, trajectory and speed. Controllers also refer to this as "having the picture." But the picture moves -- like a movie -- hence the term “the flick.”
Actually, this is just a test I'm running. But if I have to repeat something, this picture is worth repeating. For the last NATCA convention in Denver, I decided to take the opportunity to drive across the plains. I loved it. I don't know if I'd want to do it often, but it's an experience I'm glad I had. I hope to drive to Minneapolis for the next convention in September. And I hope I get a picture as nice as this one.
