Crack in the Sky
Lord knows what Flickr will do with this format (much less Instagram) but we'll soon find out.
I went to Blevins Gap (Huntsville, AL) for the sunset on January 1st. This will show you how close a thing a great sunset (sunrise) can be from a complete bust. You can see the silhouette of the water tower on the horizon here. There was just the tiniest crack in the sky. But it was enough. If you go to my feed, you can find the picture I used for sunset on January 1, 2024 and see how the whole sky lit up 5 minutes later.
Oh, and except for the odd crop, this is straight out of the camera. The clouds we almost as dark as the foreground. I didn't manipulate the exposure or anything else.
