Mediocre Can Be Beautiful
A mediocre photographer with a mediocre camera, using a mediocre lens at a mediocre location, shooting a mediocre sunrise can still make something beautiful. Without even using photoshop.
In case I haven't mentioned it lately, there is a wonderful freedom in being an amateur photographer. No deadlines, no clients, no demands, no hurry. You can pressure yourself to be better. Or not. You can just have fun and not worry about anything.
I'm not sure when it became expected of decent photographers to turn pro — or at least make photography a side hustle. But it was before I came along. Being an amateur is a lot more fun. Trust me. You don't have to take pictures for money. It confuses people, but it is possible.
